Like most web games, RETRO DERBY keeps a few small things on your device - in your browser's local storage and two small cookies. Almost all of it is the game's save file and is needed for the game to work. One thing is optional and only happens if you say yes. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers and no social-media pixels, and nothing set by anyone other than us.
The anonymous play stats below are on by default and can be switched off any time in SETTINGS → PRIVACY → COOKIES. The game is the same either way.
These make the game work, so they don't need consent. Clearing your browser's site data removes them (and your save with them, unless you signed in or wrote down your player code).
| Name | Type | What it's for | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
derby_client_id | Cookie + local storage | Your random player code, so your scores and club are yours. | Until you delete it (cookie: 400 days, renewed when you play) |
derby_day | Cookie | Today's outs and score, so the Daily Derby can't be replayed by reloading. | 400 days, renewed when you play |
derby_* (save data) | Local storage | Your save: name, daily record, career, club, locker, settings (sound, music, batting side), blocked players, what news you've read, and similar game state. | Until you delete it |
derby_auth | Local storage | Only if you sign in with Google: keeps you signed in. | Until you sign out |
derby_consent | Local storage | Remembers whether you switched play stats off. | Until you change it |
| Offline copy | Service worker cache | Lets the game load fast and work on a flaky connection. | Until the next version replaces it |
| Name | Type | What it's for | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
derby_anon_dev | Local storage | Play stats: a random device number (not your player code or name) so we can count how many devices play each mode and for how long. Sent to our own server only. | Until you switch play stats off (it's deleted then) or clear site data |
The X and Facebook links on the title screen are ordinary links. They don't load anything from those sites until you tap them; once you're there, their own cookie policies apply.
